Went on company I work for (2+ years now) careers site a few weeks ago.
Saw something in a different department I was interested in, applied. Had phone interview last week with HR. Had
in person one with the head of that department the other afternoon. Thought it went well. He gave me a pen & piece of paper and drew a
basic website with a login on it, asked me “What would you do in terms
of quality assurance? I’ll be back in 15 minutes.” He came back 25
minutes later and told me he had to take care of something urgent and
returned 30 minutes later. He seemed to like my ideas I wrote down and
told me they just started interviewing people and will do the rest of
the week so they’ll let me know by the end of next week. Yesterday morning I
got an email from HR saying this position has been filled.
There
is a chance someone came in after me and aced his interview but it
sounds much more likely they had someone in mind the whole time. A coworker asked me yesterday why I was all dressed up the other day and I told him what happened. He was pissed for me.
So, that being said... anyone know of a company who has an opening for a full time position that needs someone who can do digital media, photoshop, indesign, video editing? Willing to relocate withing US. Thanks.

I should think that skill set is in pretty high demand nationally. Shouldn’t be long before you can float a birdie at them on the way out. Maybe you can room with Stigness.

It sounds like your company has not properly developed its internal transfer process, or trained managers on interviewing.
Generally HR won’t be inclined to tell candidates much about why they weren’t selected for a position, but since you’re already an employee and not an external candidate, they might give you more details if you ask. It couldn’t hurt.
Just know that many, many, many so-called “hiring managers” suck balls at hiring.

Managers that can’t schedule and manage time are frustrating as hell. I’d be considering if you really want to work for this organization.
I once showed up for an interview and was ushered into a small room with a lengthy paper application and a pen and left there for 45 minutes. The application asked for a large number of references with phone numbers, but I’d been given no advanced notice that I was going to be expected to have all these contacts on me. Naturally I couldn’t provide all the data requested. What was really infuriating was that had I been sent the application ahead of time, I could have arrived with it fully completed, and then spent my time there doing something valuable, like actually INTERVIEWING.
The company ended up sending me one of the most condescending job rejection letters I’ve ever received, and in retrospect I’m rather glad I didn’t end up there.

Oof that sucks. Sorry to hear about that. They emailed me a PDF application form to fill out before. I was kinda annoyed anyways since I already work there, they should know that by now. Anyways it’s no secret my place sucks so...
